SSLSD Scrabble team flies the Qatar Flag high in Oman

Stafford Sri Lankan School Scrabble team bagged all the trophies on the rack at the recently concluded Oman Scrabble championship held at ABA – IB World School in Muscat. SSLSD team comprising 14 members was led by Ushara De Silva. Results of the tournament are as follows:

Under 10 – 1st Place – Vershnil Weeraratna
2nd Place – Zaina Zarook
3rd Place – Sethmi Binara
Under 13 – 1st Place – Dulmini weeraratna
2nd Place – Janidu De Silva
3rd Place – Hasini Sandachaya Perera
Under 20 – 1st Place – Ushara De Silva
2nd Place – Inuri De Silva
3rd Place – Vimukthi Ashen
Spot prizes for high score and highest word score for all age categories were won by the SSLSD team.
Teachers in charge of SSLSD Scrabble Ms.Prashanthi Weerawardane and Ms. Mahesha Rathnaweera competed in the Masters game and Ms. Prashanthi secured the 04th Place. First place was won by Megel Barker of Oman and 02nd and 03rd places were won by Sanath Hemachandra of Sri Lanka and Paul Richards of Australia respectively.
The prize for the highest word score of the tournament was won by Ms. Prashanthi scoring 109 points for the word ‘unlikes’.
SSLSD Scrabble team proved to be unbeaten in Scrabble, bringing honour and glory to the State of Qatar and to the Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha.
