               Mathematics

               Content overview

               In year 12, students are required to follow Pure Mathematics 1 and 2 as compulsory units. In
               addition, they are required to choose either Mechanics 1 or Statistics 1 as an optional unit.

               In year 13, students are required to follow Pure Mathematics 3 and 4 as compulsory units. In
               addition, they are required to choose either Mechanics 1, Mechanics 2, Statistics 1 or Decision
               Mathematics 1 as an optional unit.

               The school may facilitate Statistics 1 in Year 12 and Statistics 2 in year 13 for students specialized in
               commerce subjects. In addition, the optional subjects offered may change according to the necessity
               of the teacher and students still complying with Edexcel requirements.

               Prior learning and other requirements

               IGCSE Mathematics (or equivalent) at grades 9 to 6 would be required to follow IAL Mathematics.


               Progression

               Students can progress from this qualification to:

                     A range of different, relevant academics or vocational higher education qualifications such
                       as Engineering, Statistics, medical statistics, Financial Mathematics, Geo informatics,
                       Computer Science, etc.
